Terms of Service
The ground rules for keeping this community hub helpful, accurate, and kind.
Effective May 13, 2026
Welcome to Get Local. By using this site you agree to the terms below. I’ve written them in plain English because nobody enjoys reading legalese, and because I believe a community platform should be transparent with the people who use it. If something here ever feels unfair, reach out — I’m a real human who lives here too.
1Accuracy & Cancellations
I work hard to keep the calendar accurate, but I don’t produce the events listed here — local businesses, organizations, and community members do. Things change: shows get canceled, times shift, venues close early.
Always double-check with the venue or organizer before you show up. Get Local is not liable for canceled events, incorrect times, changed locations, or any loss you suffer as a result of relying solely on information found on this site.
2Your Responsibility & Hold Harmless
Get Local is a third party with a dream — that’s it. I do my best to verify what shows up here, but as the user it is up to you to verify an event, know its rules and restrictions, and judge its end legitimacy.
By using this site, you agree to hold Get Local harmless for any loss, harm, or inconvenience that comes from acting on the information here. Showing up to an event is your call. Trusting an event is your call. I’m just doing my best to point you in the right direction.
3Community Submissions
You own the content you submit. By submitting an event or other content to Get Local, you grant me a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, format, and distribute that content on this platform and in related promotional materials.
I reserve the right to reject, edit, or remove any event or listing at my sole discretion and without prior notice — especially if it violates the Good Neighbor Policy (see § 5 below). I’ll always try to act fairly, but the final call is mine.
4Affiliate Links & Commissions
Some external ticketing links on this site — for example, links to Eventbrite or similar platforms — may be affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, Get Local may earn a small commission at absolutely zero extra cost to you.
I disclose this because it’s the right thing to do. Any commissions go directly toward keeping the server lights on and the calendar running. I never recommend a platform or service solely because of a commission relationship.
5The Good Neighbor Policy
This is a platform built for a real community of real people. I expect everyone who uses it to act accordingly. The following are strictly prohibited:
- Spam — duplicate listings, fake events, or content submitted solely to game visibility.
- Hate speech — content that demeans, threatens, or discriminates against people based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic.
- Illegal content — anything that promotes, facilitates, or constitutes illegal activity.
- Harassment — targeted abuse of any individual or group, whether submitted publicly or sent privately through the platform.
Violating the Good Neighbor Policy means an immediate and permanent ban from the platform. I don’t issue warnings for hate speech or harassment. I just remove you.
Changes to These Terms
I may update these terms occasionally. When I do, I’ll update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Get Local after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms. If you have questions, reach out through the Contact page.
